Plante & Moran Managing Partner Blogs On Business, Culture

Gordon Krater, managing partner of Southfield-based Plante & Moran PLLC, has launched a blog to discuss culture, social media and leadership issues.

Plante & Moran is the nation's 12th largest CPA and business advisory firm and was an early adopter of social media communications. It's also coming off its 13th consecutive year on Fortune magazine's list of 100 best companies to work for.

"With offices throughout the Midwest and in Mexico, China and India, and clients throughout the world, Plante & Moran has a broad range of constituents we need to stay connected to on a regular basis," explains Krater. "With the new blog, I can use social media channels to share information and observations quickly. By posing questions in the blog to engage the audience on a range of topics, we share our firm's perspectives about culture and leadership with readers, and we'll learn from them as well. We have clients and staff members who are also interested in and willing to embrace social media. Ultimately, we want to use relevant communication vehicles to communicate effectively. As those vehicles change, Plante & Moran adapts accordingly."

Krater's blog is the second new communication announced by Plante & Moran this year. In January, the firm announced that a business book focused on succession planning and co-authored by Krater and former Managing Partner Bill Hermann will be released in the fall 2011. In addition to leading Plante & Moran, both men have decades of experience advising family businesses, partnerships and executive teams on how to transition to a new generation of corporate leadership. 

Gordon Krater became managing partner of Plante & Moran in 2009, immediately following Bill Hermann's eight year tenure in the role, and served in a variety of firm leadership positions in his career. He joined Plante & Moran in 1980 after graduating from the University of Michigan. Krater leads the firm in the ongoing development of capabilities, services, and processes that anticipate and satisfy client needs. He also fosters the firm's celebrated culture to attract talented people and continue Plante & Moran's reputation for enhanced client service.
