Queen Of Soul Meets In Birmingham With Wendy Williams

BIRMINGHAM (WWJ/AP) – Producers of “The Wendy Williams Show” say Aretha Franklin talked about how she’s feeling following her recent surgery, her tribute at the Grammy’s and her views on marriage during a taping of a show to be broadcast Wednesday.

Wendy Williams interviewed Franklin on Friday at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham.

The 68-year-old Franklin underwent surgery for an undisclosed ailment in December. The “Queen of Soul” has refused to reveal the nature of the operation, but has told The Associated Press it was “more than minor surgery.”

Earlier in the month, Franklin delivered a previously recorded message to the thousands of people who attended the Grammy Awards and to the millions who watched it on CBS-TV:

“I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to be with you this evening. And, I especially want to thank all of you who took the time to send me get-well cards and flowers – beautiful flowers – and, most importantly, your prayers during my time of hospitalization,” Franklin said.
