Class Helps Drivers Avoid Points

DETROIT (WWJ)  Michigan drivers who get tickets for minor traffic offenses such as speeding or disobeying a stop sign may be able to have the points kept off their driving records if they pass an online driver improvement course.

Secretary of State spokesman Fred Woodhams tells WWJ the course can be used only once to avoid points.  And, Woodhams says, drivers would still have to pay court costs.

Eligible drivers have two months to arrange to take and pass the course and may retake it as many times as needed within that period. If they can't pass the course, the points and violation go on their record.
