I-75S Closed near State Line

LUCAS COUNTY, OH (WWJ) - Southbound I-75 is closed near the state border between Summit St. and Alexis Rd. due to an overturned semi truck.

All traffic is being rerouted. If you're traveling south, WWJ Traffic Reporter John Baily suggests using surface streets such as Dixie Highway or Telegraph.

According to the Lucas County Sheriff's Department, the accident happened Tuesday night when a semi truck hit the median wall, crossed four lanes of traffic, struck a power pole and tipped over on its side. Once on its side, the truck began leaking 50-gallons of diesel fuel.

Local police, fire, EMS and O-DOT immediately responded to the scene. The driver of the semi truck was taken to St. Vincent hospital with confirmed injuries. No fatalities have been reported.

Monroe County Sheriff's Department reported backups from motorists stuck in traffic. An ambulance rushed to the scene for a woman who got caught in the traffic jam as she was on her way to the hospital to deliver a baby.
