Braves 4, Tigers 3

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (WWJ/AP) - The Detroit Tigers lost to the Atlanta Braves 4- 3 on Thursday during exhibition play in Kissimmee.

Brad Penny took to the mound against the Braves on Thursday and gave up five hits for two runs in three innings.

Penny formerly a starter for the St. Louis Cardinals made his first outing  for the Tigers. Penny spent most of last season on the disabled list after having surgery for a torn muscle in his back.

Max Scherzer allowed one hit in three scoreless innings for the Tigers.

``He's looking real good this spring,''  Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. ``I like him a lot. I am not worried about Max Scherzer.''

Tigers star Miguel Cabrera was hitless in three at-bats. He's 1-for-12 this spring.

Tigers play Friday against Baltimore in Lakeland.
