Former Lion Pleads Guilty To 2nd Degree CSC

MOUNT CLEMENS - (WWJ/AP)  Former Detroit Lion's Wide Receiver and Fraser High School Track Coach Tommie Boyd was sentenced today to two to 15-years in prison for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old female student.

Macomb Circuit Court Judge Diane Druzinski called Boyd a parent's worse nightmare at sentencing.

Tommie Boyd appeared Thursday in Macomb County Circuit Judge Diane Druzinski's courtroom. The 39-year-old from Shelby Township entered his plea in January in exchange for authorities dropping several other charges.

Police say he grabbed the girl's buttocks with both hands.

Druzinski told Boyd "it's a shame, because you did have some valuable skill and knowledge to offer.

Boyd also has to register as a sex offender and be fitted with a tether for the rest of his life, when released.

Defense attorney Randy Secontine says his client is ``extremely remorseful.''

Boyd played for the Detroit Lions for two seasons in the late 1990's.
