Fire Truck Flips, Ends Up On Lawn

CLAY TWP. (WWJ) - Icy conditions in Clay Township are believed to be the cause of an overturned fire engine, Friday morning near Algonac.

Police said somehow the fire truck lost control, and wound up on its side in the front yard of a home on Holland and Folkert Road.

WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with a neighbor who lives next door to the home where the accident happened.

"I heard a big bang, almost like an explosion. I didn't know what it was... I ran out there and I seen a fire truck upside down. I didn't know what happened there," he said.

A spokesperson for the Clay Fire Department said no one was hurt in the accident.

Multiple accidents and major traffic backups, Friday morning, were blamed on slick road conditions following freezing rain overnight.  Road conditions were expected to improve for the remaineder of the day, as temperatures rose above freezing.
