WWJ Newsradio 950 hosted a live webcast of the Michigan Education Association's Education Reform Symposium for educators, parents and policymakers on Monday, March 7. Education experts from around the nation, along with legislators and administrators, discussed two major areas of education reform crucial to Michigan – teacher quality and school choice.

9 – 9:30 a.m. - Welcome and Opening Remarks

9:30 – 11:30 a.m. - Education Reform and Teacher Quality
Moderated by William Mathis - This session will begin with an overview by Gloria Ladson-Billings. Following
her overview, she will be joined by Patricia Hinchey and Sean Corcoran for a
panel discussion. The audience will be invited to ask questions following the panel discussion.

11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. - Lunch
12:15 – 1:15 p.m. - How Testing and Choice are Undermining Education
Diane Ravitch - Ms. Ravitch's latest book will be available for purchase during the day. She will
be signing books following her speech.

1:15 – 1:30 p.m. - Break

1:30 – 3:30 p.m. - Education Reform and School Choice.
Moderated by Kevin Welner. This session will begin with an overview by Gary Miron. Following his overview, he will be joined by Walter Farrell and David Garcia for a panel discussion.
