Jack Shingleton Former MSU Trustee Dies

DETROIT (WWJ) - Former Michigan State University administrator and trustee John 'Jack' Shingleton has died. He was 89. Shingleton died March 2.

Shingleton was Michigan State's director of placement for 24 years. In that position, he built a job placement program that was considered one of the nation's most innovative.

He also had a brief stint as acting athletic director in the 1970s.  He retired from the school in 1987.

He was born in Wyandotte, and was also a World War II pilot.

A memorial service is set for Monday at the MSU Alumni Chapel.
