Market Owner Accused Of Reselling Stolen Property

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) The owner of a Mt. Clemens market has been charged with receiving and concealing stolen property.

Deputies from the Macomb County Sheriff's Department Enforcement Team arrested four people Monday, including Hani Louka, the owner of Joe's Market on Crocker Boulevard after receiving information that the store was reselling baby formula, wine, cigarettes, razor blades and other items stolen from local Kroger, Meijer and CVS stores.

Investigators say the merchandise was re-tagged and placed on the store shelves to be sold over . Multiple transactions took place within a three month time period, according to a statement from the Macomb County Sheriff's Department.

Three suspects were released, but Louka was charged with two misdemeanors, receiving and concealing stolen property and being a disorderly person. He was arraigned at 41-B District Court in Clinton Township Tuesday and given a personal bond.
