"Pure Michigan" Campaign Gets New Life

DEARBORN (WWJ) - "Pure Michigan delivers results". With those words, Governor Rick Snyder signed legislation Thursday to pay for the campaign that experts say has brought millions of dollars to the state of Michigan.

The "Pure Michigan" campaign known for capturing the hearts of Michiganders but also the victim of major underfunding -drew a round of applause after finding a more permanent revenue stream.

WWJ's Marie Osborne spoke with Gov. Snyder about the advertising campaign.

"We think we are doing it the proper way, we asked for an appropriation for both 2012 and 2013 for "Pure Michigan". So we intend to continue that. My view is, you don't have to have permanent established streams but we are going to be consistent in our funding," say Snyder.

Snyder notes that the ad campaign bring in three dollars back to the state for every dollar spent. The ads start on major cable networks on March 14.
