Nun Robber May Serve Life In Prison

DETROIT (WWJ) - A man who police say tried to rob a 74-year-old nun at gunpoint while she was locking up a church in Grosse Pointe Park has been arraigned.

Eighteen-year-old Raylon Wright was ordered held in the Wayne County jail on a $50,000 bond after Friday's arraignment on an armed robbery charge.

Authorities say the nun was at St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic Church after a service on Feb. 28 when she was approached by Wright who pointed a gun at her and demanded money.

A preliminary examination is set for March 23. If convicted, Wright could serve up to life in prison.
