Matt Dery's Daily Update 3-12-11

The Tigers do not expect Carlos Guillen to be ready for opening day. Jim Leyland saying this morning that he has been bothered by soreness in that surgically repaired left knee and will rest it the next few days. Tigers and Nationals today in Viera Florida, Rick Porcello is on the hill for the Tigers.

Chris Osgood is back and activated off the injured list by the Red Wings after missing the last 27 games with a sports hernia. Mike Babcock says Ozzie may play Wednesday against the Caps at the Joe. Joey MacDonald has been sent back to Grand Rapids.

Don't expect any NFL labor talks for at least another month. Reports today say that the owners have enough money saved to survive a lockout for all of 2011 if need be.

The draft comes up next month, SI.com reports that several teams have already eliminated Colorado CB Jimmy Smith from their draft boards for off-field reasons, Smith visited Allen Park and the Lions on Friday.

Last night's 30 for 30 Fab Five documentary gets a 2.0 overnight rating, the highest ever for that series. The previous high was the special on the U, the Miami Hurricanes which drew a 1.8.
