Matt Dery’s Daily Update 3-15-11

No surprise today, Jim Leyland saying that Carlos Guillen and Joel Zumaya will not start the season on the Tigers big league roster. The two will remain in Lakeland and rehab their injuries. It will be Scott Sizemore, Will Rhymes or Danny Worth opening the year at second base for Detroit. Tigers today play host to Boston in Lakeland, Justin Verlander on the hill for the Tigers, Sizemore starts at second. The team today also optioned down to Jacob Turner to minor league camp. The righty will start the season in double a Erie.

The NCAA Tournament tips off tonight with 2 of the first four games in Dayton, in the opener UNC Ashville faces Arkansas Little Rock, the night cap pits Clemson up against UAB. Here the game on AM 1270 starting at 6:30pm.

The Pistons return to action tomorrow night against Toronto at the Palace, first time since the pre-season that Terrico White has practiced with his teammates getting back to full contact today.
