Bloomfield Hills High Schooler Dies Overnight

WEST BLOOMFIELD (WWJ) - West Bloomfield Police are awaiting autopsy results on a 17-year-old Andover High School student who apparently died overnight in his home.

Officials say 17-year-old Peter Catcho came home from the gym and complained of chest pains before he went to bed about 11 p.m. Wednesday night.

The teen was found not breathing early Thursday morning.

Lt. Michael Turner told WWJ they don't believe steroids or prescription medication may have played a role in his death.

"At the scene, we saw no evidence of that.  The only problem that we're really seeing is that he was suffering from a cold, possibly, in the prior three weeks of this. So, there may be some issue there," Turner said.

The Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office an official cause of death is pending.

Catcho was in the 11th grade at Andover High in Bloomfield Hills.

"We are all shocked and saddened by this unfortunate news," said school officials, in a statement posted on the school's  website. "Please keep Peter's family in your thoughts and prayers."

The school is offering counseling to students who want it.
