Judge To Rule On Laura Johnson's Parental Rights

FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - The Oakland County woman who was reported to be doing at-home medical procedures on her husband will soon learn whether the court will terminate her parental rights to her children.

Laura Johnson made headlines when she was charged with murder in the death of her husband - local attorney Lloyd Johnson - after reportedly trying to treat a large wound from a previous injury that never healed on his body. Last Fall, police removed bloodied sheets, surgical instruments, human tissue and prescription drugs from the family's Farmington Hills home. Eventually, the medical examiner ruled the death was accidental, and Johnson was cleared.

However, prosecutors say she's not fit to care for her children. The woman's attorney says there are other methods to protect children besides the termination of parental rights. A family court judge rules on Johnson's parental rights to her two young children Thursday.
