Detroit Mom Arraigned After Stand-Off With Police

DETROIT (WWJ) - The Detroit woman accused in a nearly 12 hour standoff with Detroit police last week has been arraigned Sunday. A not guilty plea was entered for Miryanne Godboldo on charges that include discharge of a weapon in a dwelling and resisting and obstructing an officer.

WWJ's Beth Fisher reports from the 36th District Court.

Bond was set at $500,000 dollars cash, which attorney, Allison Folmar says is excessive.

"My client is a mother who was protecting her child, against CPS who is acting, over-reaching and  outside the scope of their authority, you can not superimpose your will to give a child risperdal, which is a psychotropic medication," says attorney Folmar.

"They took Arianna out of the home, took her to Children's Hospital, would not reveal the location of where the 13-year-old was, the child is frightened, she was terrified," Folmar says.

Her attorneys say she was trying to protect her daughter from being taken into custody. The girl's father, Mubarak Hakim, came to support Godboldo.

"It's ridiculous, it's outrageous that they would  post a bond for half a million dollars. In regards to our daughter being in Hawthorne Medical-Mental Health Center, and regards to we could not see her," says Hakim.
