First Film Under New Guidelines Approved

DETROIT (WWJ) - Hollywood will still make the occasional movie in Michigan, despite Governor Snyder's effort to water down the state's film incentives.

The Michigan Film Office has approved more than $5 million for a comedy titled "Five-Year Engagement'' that's expected to shoot mostly in Ann Arbor, and will star Jason Segel and Emily Blunt.

The Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press report the tax credit approved for the project is the first under new guidelines issued last week.

Universal is expected to spend about $12.5 million dollars in Michigan on "Five-Year Engagement."
