TechTown Seeks 'Seasoned' Career-Changing Professionals

TechTown, the Wayne State University research park and business incubator, is hosting a Shifting Gears training program that begins April 15.

Shifting Gears is for seasoned professionals looking to shift into new career opportunities that allow them to contribute to success by using their business knowledge and experience in new ways.

TechTown will offer three information sessions for anyone interested in learning more about this opportunity.

"Shifting Gears helps executives from large corporations transfer their skill sets to new opportunities," said TechTown's "entrepreneurial talent champion," Faris Alami, who is organizing the Shifting Gears program. "It helps them find the jobs of the future in our new economy and gives them powerful career development tools."

The program seeks highly skilled and talented professionals who want to increase their effectiveness and capabilities for the dynamic environment of small business.

This four-month program's results are impressive: 35 percent of participants land new jobs within 3 months, 55 percent land positions within 6 months, and 80 percent find work within 9 or more months.

Anyone interested in applying for Shifting Gears must attend a free information session. The schedule:

* Thursday, March 31 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
* Monday, April 4 from 9 to 11 a.m.; and
* Monday, April 11 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
