Police Officer Involved In Crash

Southfield (WWJ) A Madison Heights police officer is recovering after losing control of his patrol car and hitting a funeral home.

Police say the officer was responding to an armed robbery in progress Friday night around 10 p.m. when a vehicle drove in front of the patrol car on southbound John R near Irving.

The officer, who wasn’t identified, swerved to avoid a crash and instead drove off the road and hit the Hopcroft Funeral Home.  Minor damage was caused to the building.

The officer was treated at a local hospital and was later released.
