ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Facebook helped two local men connect as one’s wife put out a plea for a kidney for her husband. Ricky Cisco of Royal Oak answered the call and donated a kidney last week to Jeff Kurze at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital.

Cisco says they’re friends now.

Twenty-five-year-old Ricky Cisco of Royal Oak donated a kidney to 35-year-old Jeff Kurze of Warren, after Kurze’s wife posted on Facebook that he needed one.

“He’s healing and my kidney’s happy, I’m happy and it’s just great, because we became friends after,” says Kurze’s, who adds, the two are like brothers now.

“That was just awesome, that was the best part…I really consider them family now,” says Cisco.

Kurze of Warren says Cisco is like a brother now.

Beaumont doctors are hopeful this will lead to more organ donation.
