Ford Heir Facing Two Charges After Arrest

FERNDALE (WWJ) - One of the heirs to the Ford Motor Company throne finds herself in trouble with local police.

According to an arrest report made public Tuesday, Elena Ford's blood-alcohol level at the time of her arrest Sunday night was was .14, well above the legal limit of .08 in Michigan.

Ford was observed speeding and driving erratically on northbound Woodward Avenue near 9 Mile before her SUV struck a median.  Since her 11-year-old son was in the vehicle at the time, Ford also faces child endangerment charges.

Attorneys for 44-year-old Elena Ford, great-great-granddaughter of Henry Ford, scheduled to be in court Tuesday to schedule an arraignment on the two charges: driving under the influence and now charges of child endangerment as well.

Ford was arrested over the weekend in Ferndale.

A spokesman for the Dearborn automaker says the company doesn't comment on personal matters involving employees.
A pre-trial hearing in the case is scheduled for later this month.
