A Real Life Action Hero!

Here's your chance to meet a real life action hero.

It's Jim Hiller. Lifelong Detroiter. An accomplished lawyer. Owner of Hiller's Markets in Metro Detroit. He's a husband, a proud father, and dog lover.  And he's a multi-millionaire dedicated to doing good deeds.

Hiller will be honored Thursday, April 28 6:30 p.m at the Royal Oak Music Theatre in a benefit for ALS of Michigan.

WWJ's Roberta Jasina talked with Hiller about his good heart and great deeds.

Jim's mother, Harriet, lost her battle to ALS ("Lou Gehrig's Disease") in the year 2000.

"One of the promises that I made to her before she died, that I would do everything in my power to find treatments for people who have ALS and provide comfort for people who have ALS," Hiller says. 

Since then, Jim has worked tirelessly for the Michigan ALS community. He has donated millions of dollars to the Hiller ALS Clinic and Research Center at the Wayne State University School of Medicine.

"While I am not optimistic that there will be a cure sometime this year or next, I am optimistic that we are beginning to understand the ideology of this illness, and once we understand that, treatments will not be far behind."

Tickets for the April 28 event are $150. The evening includes hors d'oeuvres, dinner, music, open bar, silent auction, and valet parking.
