Detroit Red Wings Notes And Quotes

–Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg suffered a lower-body injury midway through the first period and left the game. The Wings said he will be re-evaluated on Thursday but likely will sit out the final two games of the regular season. Zetterberg, who was checked by Bryan Allen at the Carolina blue line, leads the Wings with 80 points (24 goals, 56 assists) and is one of their best defensive forwards.

–Coach Mike Babcock said he hadn’t decided on his goaltending plans for the final two games but that Chris Osgood likely won’t play. Osgood is eligible to come off long-term injured reserve on Friday but continues to experience soreness following surgery on Jan. 11 for a sports hernia and groin issues. He hopes to be able to backup Jimmy Howard at some point in the playoffs.

“We had a lot of chances, but we turned the puck over a few times. That’s going to cost you and it did. We took a few too many penalties. We’re still not handling the puck like we should be at this point in the season.” — Wings D Brad Stuart.
