U-M Golfer Heads To The Masters

DETROIT (WWJ) - For years, golfers have been wary of a "Tiger" - as in Tiger Woods - at the Masters, but this year, there's a "Lion" on the prowl too.

University of Michigan golf sensation Lion Kim is one of just three college players at Augusta National this week.

"It's a dream come true for me, honestly. And I've been dreaming about this since I was a little kid, and never did I think I would play in the Masters while I'm still in college," Kim said. "And it's extra special because I get to represent the University of Michigan, share it with my teammates and my coaches. It's special."

Kim said he can't wait for the 11th, 12th, and 13th holes, commonly referred to as Amen Corner. He earned his way into the tournament with a win at the US Amateur Public Links Championship.

"It's stunning. Absolutely beautiful. Everything that I imagined about. Everything is so green over there and the grass is perfect. It's like the Disney World of golf," Kim said.
