DETROIT (WWJ) – Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napolean honored Trooper Jeffrey Werda by having his deputies assume a fixed position for 15 seconds and then turn on their patrol car lights and sirens.

Napolean says all police officers share a common bond and danger.
“From the day we take our oath of office we all realize that that is a possibility, but we move forward and do the job that we’re asked to do irrespective of the danger of the job so we recognize that any moment it could be any one of us,” says Napolean.

Napolean sends his condolences to the family of Trooper Werda.
