Speed Traps Targeting Aggressive Drivers

OAKLAND COUNTY (WWJ) - Drivers might want to watch their speeds if they're driving along I-696 on Tuesday.

State and local police will be out writing speeding tickets in a series of speed traps that officers say are designed to save lives.

On Monday, when "Operation Day-life Savings" kicked off, officers wrote over 30 tickets to drivers along I-75. They'll be out along I-696 between 11am and 7pm. On Wednesday, officers will be patrolling on I-94. They'll be issuing tickets for speeding and aggressive driving.

After Wednesday, the campaign will return May 16-20, June 13-17, July 18-22 and August 15-19.

Speeding tickets range from $50 to $80, or could even be higher.
