Great Lakes Art Fair Comes To Town

NOVI (WWJ) -  The Great Lakes Art Fair is coming to town this weekend. The three-day art exhibition will take place Friday, April 15 through Sunday at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.

The Great Lakes Art Fair is considered to be the fastest growing indoor art event within the Michigan region. For three years, the Great Lakes Art Fair has provided local artists the opportunity to showcase fine art on a large platform.

This bi-annual fair offers fine artists in the region a reliable, regularly scheduled, "weather-free" marketplace to showcase their freshest and most beautiful work, and word is spreading rapidly that this is a destination event for artists and patron alike.

The Great Lakes Art Fair was created in April 2009, by Blair Bowman, owner of the Suburban Collection Showplace, to replace the Sugarloaf Art Fair. In the same year the Suburban Collection Showplace launched the "Generation Next" project.

Since the inception of the Generation Next project, an ongoing partnership between the Great Lakes Art Fair and local school districts within the Tri-County areas continues to thrive.

The Generation Next project provides elementary, middle and high school students with a venue to display their personal artwork, alongside local artists. Every student participating in the 2011 art fair will receive special recognition, including a certificate of achievement.

The fair will include live entertainment, art demonstrations, and adult attendees of the Michigan International Wine Expo will receive complimentary admission into the Great Lakes Art Fair.

Patrons enter the fair through the elegant Grand Garden Gallery which features an expansive seasonal display showcasing select works from featured artists. Envision towering rustic panels framing sculptures, paintings and florals that sweep patrons immediately into the authentic village atmosphere of the fair.

The fair will be open on Friday from 1 until 8 pm, on Saturday from 10 am until 6 pm, and on Sunday from 11 am until 5 pm.

Admission for the 2011 Spring Great Lakes Art Fair is $7 for adults, free for children 12 and under. Parking is free.
