Matt Dery's Daily Update 4-14-11

Tom Gores is in New York City today as the NBA's board of governors gather for their annual meetings, it is believed but not 100% certain that the owners will vote on the sale of the Pistons to Gores. The season has come to an end and as Joe Dumars told 97.1 The Ticket the other night. It's too soon for him to make a decision on John Kuester. The Pistons president wants to sit down with Gores and with Kuester, before making any calls on the coach's future so for now he is safe.

A positive sign at Red Wings practice, Henrik Zetterberg skated today. Mike Babcock still calls him day to day and would not say if his forward will be available for game 2 Saturday.

The Tigers head west in the first of 7 away from Comerica Park as they open a 4 game series in Oakland against the A's. A's off to a 6-6 start, Phil Coke on the hill for Detroit, Gio Gonzalez starts for Oakland and in two starts he has given up just one earned run.
