The Stanley Cup playoffs and hockey clichés are made for each other.

How many times have you heard about a goalie “standing on his head” to win a postseason game?

Come on. Has anybody ever actually seen a goalie stand on his head?

Also, the playoffs are constantly referred to as “a test of will.”

The Red Wings’ victory over the Phoenix Coyotes Wednesday night did fit that particular adage. Despite falling behind, the Red Wings rallied to win Game One of their Western Conference quarterfinal series.

The reason, though, had more to do with the Red Wings having superior hockey skill compared to the Coyotes.

How many world-class players do the Coyotes have? One? Maybe.
