Lakeside Mall Hosts Free Heart Health Event

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - In partnership with the American Heart Association of Southeast Michigan, Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center will host Mount Clemens Regional's Healthy Start Macomb, on Saturday, April 16, at Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights.

This free heart health event is designed to promote heart-healthy habits, which include regular physical activity and a balanced diet.

Free health screenings, a heart-health presentation and family activities will be featured at 8 am. The Lakeside Stroll, a self-paced walk through the mall along a designated route, begins at 9 am.

At 11 am, walkers are encouraged to return to the Food Court to purchase a heart-healthy lunch from one of the participating restaurants. Heart-healthy lunches will also be available for purchase at Lakeside Mall's other participating dine-in restaurants.

While the focus is on raising awareness of heart disease, this family-friendly event offers a great opportunity to spend time with family and friends. And it's all for a good cause, with proceeds benefitting the American Heart Association of Southeast Michigan.

"Lakeside is a perfect venue for this event," President and CEO of Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center Mark O'Halla said in a release. "We wanted to create an event in Macomb County to expand our support of the American Heart Association, and Lakeside shares our commitment to this community. It's a great fit."

A longtime supporter of the American Heart Association, O'Halla was recently appointed president of the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association of Southeast Michigan.

"We're pleased to partner with Mount Clemens Regional for this event," Lakeside Mall's marketing manager Amy Stanton said in a release. "We all benefit when we work to create a healthier community."
