Snyder Defends 'Tough' Decisions, Challenges Of Change

DETROIT (WWJ) - Governor Snyder is talking about the slings and arrows that come with change. Snyder moved between audiences that included honorees of the Free Press Green Leaders awards ceremony and the Federal Bar Association.

In speaking to a crowd in downtown Detroit during the Green Leaders awards ceremony, the Governor says he respects those leaders of green initiatives who oversee hard changes.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Florence Walton caught up to the governor in to ask about the Rev. Jesse Jackson has been outspoken in his opposition to the new emergency financial manager law.

"Look at Federal bankruptcy law;  That's been there for how many decades? And it goes further and has more powers than anything involved with the emergency financial manager legislation and I don't see people standing up all over saying let's repeal the Federal bankruptcy law," notes Snyder.

Then the Governor moved to an audience that included Federal judges and prosecutors where he stressed the need for shared sacrifice and compromise.

"I believe we should also be ... looking at ways in which the circuit court can work better with the district court and the probate court, to the degree that they can help one another and support one another in listening to a case, or figuring out how they can help one another or do the best things possible," says Snyder.

Snyder acknowledged the opposition to many of his proposals but he also encouraged people who agree with him to become just as vocal as his opponents.
