Westland Man Accused In Attempted Kidnapping

PITTSFIELD TWP. (WWJ) - A Westland man stands accused of trying to kidnap his ex-girlfriend.

Pittsfield Township Police said the woman was leaving her home early Wednesday morning when her 28-year old ex-boyfriend  jumped out of his car and grabbed her. She told police he forced her into his car at gunpoint.

Police said the woman escaped when the car stopped at a stop sign near Packard and Carpenter roads.

The suspect was later arrested in Inkster.  Police have also recovered a gun they say the man used in the crime.

The woman suffered injuries to her face and shoulder, but nothing life-threatening.

The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, is being held in Washtenaw County Jail. Charges are pending.
