Pugh: Educating Youth Will Help Grow City

DETROIT (WWJ) – Education in Detroit, a major topic of discussion on Sunday morning’s Channel 7 “Spotlight on the News.”

Detroit City Council President Charles Pugh says educated youth will help grow the city:

“The silo of city leadership over here, and schools over here,  needs to be broken down, we need these young people to see their role in what we are trying to do,” says Pugh.

“We are trying to attract businesses here, we are trying to attract families or maintain the families we have, grocery stores, mass transit, safer neighborhoods, and they have a role in that, but we need an educated populous.”

Pugh says he’s involved with bettering education in Detroit because they need educated youth.
