Michigan's Cheapest Gas In Macomb, Flint

MACOMB (WWJ/AP) - The average price of gas in Michigan continues to approach $4 per gallon.

AAA Michigan reports prices are up another 2 cents per gallon over the past week to a statewide average of $3.98. The auto club said Monday the statewide average is about $1.13 cents per gallon higher than last year at this time.

And according to GasBuddy.com, Michiganders will find the cheapest prices in Flint, at $3.70 per gallon.

In Metro Detroit, it looks like Macomb County is your best bet. GasBuddy reports the best deal is on 21 Mile Road in Macomb and on 23 Mile Road in Shelby Township at $3.80.

Metro Detroiter James Hamilton told WWJ's Pat Sweeting the rising fuel prices have caused him to not only cut down on how much gas he buys, but added that he doesn't do as much leisure driving, and part of that is for the better.

"I try to ride bikes or walk, and that's something I'm not used to, but it's making me a little bit more conscious of my physical appearance, here... It definitely is (healthier)," he said.

Hamilton said he doesn't expect gas prices to drop anytime soon.
