Pivotal Day For 7 Detroit Schools Slated For Closure
DETROIT (WWJ) - Monday could make or break the students and staff of seven schools in Detroit slated for closure or transfer to a charter operation.
Each of the schools will make a 20-minute presentation to convince emergency financial manager Robert Bobb why they should be spared.
Some of these schools have staged sit-ins, marches and YouTube videos to make their case to the public.
The district plans to close eight schools and hand 45 more to charter operators over the next two years.
