Call for Detroit NAACP President To Resign

DETROIT (WWJ) - There's a call for the head of the Detroit NAACP to step down.

Detroit political commentator Adolph Mongo is not only asking people to boycott Sunday's Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner, he wants Detroit NAACP President Rev. Wendell Anthony to resign. This is all over the decision to honor Detroit rocker Kid Rock at the dinner.

"Rev. Anthony is making it ok for people like Kid Rock to fly the ... confederate flag," Mongo told WWJ's City Beat Reporter Vickie Thomas. "So, if he was wearing a Nazi flag and, and had it at his concerts, he wouldn't be at the Palace, he wouldn't be at none of these venues around the country because promoters would not book him."

Rev. Wendell Anthony declined comment.
