Now Lets Get Down To Business

Rob Sanford

April is ending and May is beginning and after one month of the season there's already been some surprises. It's like someone turned the division upside down. Cleveland is first and Kansas City isn't far behind...with the Tigers, Twins, and White Sox all getting off to slow starts. I wish I could say I wasn't surprised. but I am. I felt like Detroit had a decent starting rotation going in, and so far they've been uneven, as has been the bullpen. Add to that an up and down offense, and it all adds up to disappointing April. But with a new month, there's new hope that the Bengals can get it started.

Perhaps the biggest reason behind the Tiger's lack of scoring lies in the upper third of the batting order. These are the guys that have to get on base to let the "thumpers" drive them in. But when you look at the batting averages of Jackson, Rhymes, and Ordonez...you can see that's not happening. With Victor Martinez coming off the disabled list....maybe the shake up in the order to make room for him will get things started. Just call me "Robbie Sunshine."
