City Of Taylor Lays Off 9 Police Officers

TAYLOR (WWJ) - As a first step in cutting the city's budget, effective Sunday, the city of Taylor has laid off nine police officers.

Mayor Jeffrey Lamarand says next year's budget reflects  a police force of 48 officers, down from 72. 

Lamarand says more cuts are coming to all departments, because the money just isn't  there.
