Compuware Gives American Express $1 Million In Mainframe Cost Savings Prize
Detroit-based Compuware Corp. (Nasdaq: CPWR) has awarded American Express $1 million in its Mainframe Cost Savings Program, a competition among Compuware customers to see who could tell the best story of savings acheived through the use of Compuware mainframe products.
Participants in the program were offered a free cost-savings assessment, which identified current opportunities and provided a roadmap for future operational cost-savings for the mainframe.

To participate in the program, customers with a current Compuware mainframe software maintenance contract were invited to participate in a straightforward and free cost-savings assessment. Through the assessment, Compuware reviewed the cost savings that customers achieved as well as future savings opportunities made possible by using Compuware mainframe software. Some of the participating customers have used the information and analysis created during the assessment to develop their own annual cost saving plans.
In addition to the cost savings assessment, participating customers were asked to submit brief summaries explaining how Compuware mainframe systems enable them to solve problems and save money. The most compelling story, as determined by a panel of judges, earned American Express the Million Dollar Grand Prize. The submitted stories were presented to the judges without the name of the participating organizations attached to give each company an equal chance at the grand prize.
