Matt Dery's Daily Update 5-4-11

Darius Morris has left the University of Michigan; the sophomore guard has decided to keep his name in the NBA Draft. Morris will hire an agent and will play professionally next season. Morris in a statement today says he is going with his heart and pursuing his dream of playing in the NBA. John Beilein says he understand and knows the kind of thought that Morris put into this decision. ESPN's Andy Katz says this is a gamble for Morris and believes Darius is not a lock to be drafted in the 1st round. A number of NBA personnel told Katz that they thought Morris would stay for another year at Michigan.

The Red Wings with a very big game tonight at the Joe down 0-2 to the Sharks. They return home for game 3 against San Jose, Mike Babcock confirming today that Kris Draper will play and Drew Miller has been scratched.

Victor Martinez is back in the Tiger lineup, a boost the offense needs as they face the Yankees again tonight. Max Scherzer on the hill against Freddy Garcia.
