Ken Kal Previews Game 4 For The Red Wings

I've got a good tip for you Red Wings fans. Don't set up a tee time yet!

Something tells me that there's more hockey to be played in this series before it's all said and done. Don't get me wrong, I understand that the odds of winning the next 4 games are slim, but professional sports are filled with great stories and fantastic comebacks. Think about this for a moment. Wouldn't it be a great story if the Red Wings turned it around and found a way to advance into the Western Conference Final!  It's not impossible. Other teams have done it so why can't the Red Wings?

Here's why I believe it could happen. The game has changed. One of the reasons why teams didn't come back from a 3-0 deficit in the past is because teams could shut down their opponents by stacking the blue line, trapping and by clutching and grabbing.

The rules have changed.  Leads were safe back then, but not in today's game. Just go back to the last round. The Sharks trailed Los Angeles 4-0 early in Game 3 and fought all the way back to win the game 6-5 in overtime. That would have NEVER happened back in the day.

Chicago trailing 3-0 gave Vancouver a scare in the first round only to lose in overtime in game 7.

Philadelphia upset Boston last season trailing 3-0 and won the series. Tampa Bay trailed Pittsburgh 3-1 and found a way back to win.  In fact the Lightning have won 7 in a row and are in the Eastern Conference Final. That's 4 examples of comebacks that have happened in a one year period. Yes climbing the mountain is still a challenge, but casting a victory flag on the summit isn't as improbable as it once was.

This series is way closer than the 3-0 deficit that the Red Wings face today. The team and Mike Babcock know that. A few breaks here or there and perhaps the Wings lead the series 2-1.

So don't give up hope Red Wings fans. There's nothing more enjoyable than the thrill of a comeback victory in professional sports. It truly is a very remarkable experience. The Sharks haven't won anything yet. It takes 4 victories to win a series.

If they win the game tonight then we salute them for a job well done. There's nothing wrong with putting a little pressure on them is there?

Looking forward to talking to you from San Jose!

Stay tuned!
