Many Activities At Metroparks That Put Mom In Center Of Fun

DETROIT (WWJ) - Still looking for an idea for Mother's Day to delight mom? There are numerous activities scheduled for the family that keeps mom front and center at the Metroparks.

- Mother's Day Walk-a-Mom: Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nature Center of Stony Creek Metropark near Rochester/Washington Twp. Kids of all ages who walk the trail of their choice with their mom will be awarded an official "Walk-a-Mom" certificate. Mom gets a garden flower to plant at home. Pre-register. There is a $3 dollar fee. call (586) 781-9113.

- Flowers and Wagon Rides for Mom: Sunday from noon until 3 p.m., Farm Center of Wolcott Mill Metropark in Ray Township.  Join interpreter at he farm where you and mom can enjoy a wagon ride and choose a flower or plant to take home. Fee $5 dollars. Call (586) 752-5932.

- Mother's Day Flower Walk: Sunday at 1 p.m. at Indian Springs Metropark Environmental Discovery Center near White Lake. You can take part in a guided hike to experience some of the beautiful woodland wildflowers of May, a special treat for your mom. Fee $3 per person. Pre-register. Call the Environmental Discovery Center at (248) 625- 6640.

- Mother's Day Wildflower Hike: Sunday at 1 p.m. Activity Center of Hudson Mills Metropark near Dexter/Ann Arbor. Here you can take a guided hike to discover the spring wildflowers in the park. Moms are free all other pay $3 dollars. Pre-register at (800) 477-3191 or (734) 426-8211.

Keep in mind that a vehicle entry permit is required to enter any Metropark, $5 a day, $25 annually - $15 annually for seniors.
