As Red Wings Win, So Do Area Sports Bars

DETROIT (WWJ) - It's Game 6 for the Red Wings against the San Jose Sharks in the second round of the playoffs Tuesday at Joe Louis Arena.   WWJ Newsradio 950's Beth Fisher reports area sports bars are happy to be cashing in on the Wings' success.

At Mr. Joe's in Southfield, cook Trevor Cerrett, says they'll be packed Tuesday.

"It's been insane, for the fact that people just wanna come out and support their team and enjoy the bar scene and, you know, if people can't get to the game what is the better place to go than Mr. Joe's," says Cerrett.

Cerrett says he'll be cooking up lots of burgers & fries as the Wings take on San Jose for Game 6 in the second round of the playoffs at the Joe.

It means double the business for sports bars like Mr. Joe's according to bartender & waitress Heather Bassett:

"Joe's has a great business as it is, a great clientèle, and when the games are on and we get really busy, then it expands even more," says Bassett. "Go Wings!" she adds.

Bassett expects the bar & restaurant on 12 Mile to be packed with Wings fans Tuesday, watching the big screen TV's and munching on nachos and burgers.  And Bassett, a Wings fan, says she will try to keep an eye on the game too.
