New Software From Calumet's ThermoAnalytics

Calumet-based ThermoAnalytics Inc. Wednesday announced the release of version 20.1 of its RadTherm software.

The company said the new release offers several new features, including:

* Human Thermal Module: The Human Thermal Module has several new features, such as the physiology model, Physiogen software, which can generate human models that have different heights and weights, and the option to visualize thermal sensation.
* Battery Thermal Module: This module performs a coupled thermal-electrical analysis of Lithium-Ion batteries at multiple scales -- individual cells, battery packs, and at the vehicle system level.
* Editable Summary Table: The new Editable Summary Table feature allows for the editing of boundary conditions and properties directly in the spreadsheet like Summary Table. The Summary Table can be used interactively with the main graphics window for rapidly selecting and editing model parts.
* Boundary Conditions Import and Export: Boundary condition sets can now be easily imported and exported making it easy to reuse a previously set-up model. The exported data includes all boundary conditions, curves, materials, surface conditions, and paints.
* Thermal Link Wizard: The new Thermal Link Wizard provides the powerful capability to determine candidate thermal links in a few seconds for large models with hundreds or thousands of parts.
* NearIR Module: The NearIR Module enables rendering of targets against realistic backgrounds in low-light environments for simulating night vision systems.
* Abaqus Export: Thermal results and geometry can now be exported to Abaqus for performing thermal stress simulation. The Abaqus export supports shell and volume elements and can be run from the GUI or command line.
* Two Layer Parts: Multi-Layer parts now have an option to model two layer parts, in addition to higher numbers of layers. The feature can also use the graphical editing of layers, and has options to insert or remove layers from the front or the back makes it much easier to edit multi-layer parts.
* Mouse Rotation: Added the ability to control the model center of rotation in the graphics window, which makes it easier for manipulating large models, and also added new toolbar buttons for setting views and switching units.
* View Factors: New option to reduce view factor calculation time by computing view factors only from the center of a radiation patch instead of casting rays from multiple locations on the radiation patch.
* Replace Mesh by Part: The geometry mesh in a model can now be replaced either globally or just for certain parts based on the part name. This feature makes it easier to update a model or perform local refinement of the model.
