Sometimes kids need a little nudge to get interested in a book or a genre of books.
Movies and TV shows can encourage kids to take on reading that they otherwise might not.
In many cases, movies for young children and tweens will have several versions of a book based on the movie, one for younger readers and a chapter book edition as well.
Movies can also bring kids to look into classics – teens interested in the latest adventures of Jack Sparrow might be enticed to try Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel Treasure Island.
