Machinery From GM Willow Run Plant To Be Auctioned Off

YPSILANTI (WWJ) - More than six million square feet of state-of-the-art machinery and equipment that used to be part of the sprawling General Motors Willow Run Transmission Plant will be auctioned off in Ypsilanti Tuesday.

The assets were part of the "Old GM" that was liquidated during the company's bankruptcy proceedings a couple of years ago. Hilco Trading and Maynards Industries, who are jointly conducting the auction, say more than two thousand machines are up for bid.

The auction is open to the public, starting at nine in the morning, but bidders must  have down-payment money that will go to satisfy the creditors of GM affected by the bankruptcy filing.
