Walled Lake Graduate Out Of Running For Miss USA

WALLED LAKE (AP) - A 2003 graduate of Walled Lake Central High School is out of the running for Miss USA after resigning as Miss Wisconsin USA over identity fraud charges.

Twenty-six-year-old Shaletta Porterfield won the Wisconsin title last year and would have competed in Las Vegas next month, but instead resigned Friday. She's pleaded not guilty in Wisconsin to misappropriating identity information to obtain money.

Porterfield is a University of Michigan graduate, with parents in West Bloomfield.

Miss Michigan USA Channing Pierce of Royal Oak competes for the national title against a field that now includes the new Wisconsin entrant, Jordan Morkin of Green Bay.
