Erin Cummings Sticking With Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Although the show was canceled, "Detroit 1-8-7" star Erin Cummings says she won't abandon Detroit.

The actress said she plans to frequently return to the Motor City to help promote her charity, "Mittens for Detroit."

"This means I'll be coming back once a month," said Cummings.

Thanks to the help of several local businesses, the actress collected over 10,000 gloves and mittens for Detroit children and adults this past winter.

Cummings said the charity will be bigger and better this winter.  She has set up a goal of collecting and distributing 20,000 mittens and gloves for next winter.

"On Friday, we signed an agreement with the North Woodward Community Foundation who will be our fiscal sponsor meaning we are now officially a non-profit and can accept financial donations," said Cummings.

Cummings said increasing partnerships with the Detroit Tigers, ACO Hardware, Quicken Loans and other local businesses will help the charity prosper further.
