Oxford-based LED lighting manufacturer Relume Technologies said Tuesday that its LED lighting system for billboards, Ecovista, was named to the list of “Must See Products” at Lightfair International 2011 by Edison Report.
LFI is the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference.
A panel of six judges reviewed 105 products to determine Edison Report’s top “Must See Products” list. Ecovista was one of 12 products showcased at the conference to be selected and the judges commented that Relume’s innovative LED technology is “an energy saving sign product that actually lights up the sign.”
Said Crawford Lipsey, CEO for Relume: “This recognition by a premier lighting industry news outlet further confirms Relume as a leader in the outdoor LED lighting market.”
Compared to billboards lit by traditional lighting fixtures, Ecovista illuminated signs are more noticeable and more easily read. Ecovista systems use high brightness LEDs that produce clear white light for crisp text and edge definition. In addition, the LEDs have a high Color Rendering Index, making sign graphics more vivid. Because the LED light output from Ecovista is extremely focused, more light illuminates the board and far less escapes into the night, making Ecovista a community-friendly technology for Dark Skies initiatives.
Ecovista consumes 65 percent less energy than other high-intensity discharge sources of billboard lighting. On a traditional 14-by-48-foot billboard, six Ecovista fixtures consume less than 600 watts, compared to the 890 to 1,780 watts that are required by traditional lighting. With its patented Silver Circuitry thermal management technology, Relume’s Ecovista operates cooler, so it will last longer — an estimated 15 years before requiring replacement.
